Family Medicine
Something for the whole family!
Primary Care for the entire family in Clarksville, Tennessee
Establishing a relationship with a primary care physician is incredibly important for the health of an individual or family. As a multi-specialty practice, Premier Medical Group is known for its reputation for providing quality healthcare service for newborns, adolescents, adults and seniors.
Our Family Medicine team is the foundation on which our care model is built. These physicians have completed a broad spectrum of training and are qualified to provide the best quality care for patients of all ages and diagnoses.
Following medical school, Family Medicine Physicians have completed a residency that includes significant instruction in pediatrics, gynecology, internal medicine, psychiatry, neurology, surgery and community medicine. These doctors also receive training in many other areas including geriatrics, emergency medicine, orthopedics, otolaryngology (ear, nose and throat) and urology.
A Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) is an advanced practice registered nurse who works under the supervision of a physician to help provide a wide range of healthcare services for the entire family. An FNP has an advanced degree in nursing with clinical training in caring for entire families and is qualified to diagnose and treat illnesses and manage chronic conditions.
A Physician Assistant (PA) is another healthcare provider who has additional training in caring for the entire family. As another member of a patient-centered healthcare team, a PA has completed Masters-level education and clinical training to provide care to the entire family.
In addition to diagnosing, treating illness and coordinating all care, Family Medicine Physicians and Mid-Level Providers also:
- Provide preventive care such as routine checkups
- Administer immunizations and screening tests
- Develop treatment plans for acute and chronic illnesses
- Guide patients toward a healthier lifestyle
- Many in-office procedures provided
The relationship between a Family Medicine healthcare provider and patient should be a lasting, trusting one. By establishing this relationship, a physician, nurse practitioner or physician assistant can get to know you as a healthy person, so that any issue that might come up is easier to identify. Even young people can benefit from having regular check-ups, as many studies have proven that a long-term relationship with a physician can keep people healthier as they age. A patient-centered Family Medicine care team can get to know you and your health and help you manage it for your life time.
I’m being admitted to the hospital… Now what?
Our physicians are on staff at our local hospital and maintain important referral relationships with other area providers. If a Premier Medical Group patient requires hospitalization, a physician called a hospitalist will be the doctor who provides care for him or her during a hospital stay. A hospitalist is a board-certified physician who cares only for hospitalized patients. This doctor does not have a traditional office and instead rounds on patients who are in an inpatient hospital setting continually. These physicians are affiliated with the admitting hospital rather than our practice, and our physician team remains in regular contact with the hospitalist to keep abreast of our patients’ treatment. When our patient is released from the hospital, he or she will return to our practice for follow-up care.
Our Family Medicine team offers quality care, experienced physicians and the desire to build lasting patient relationships.
