DME Fraud Notification
This notice to inform you that we have received several reports regarding fraudulent Medicare claims for Durable Medical Equipment (DME). We would like to provide you with the necessary information to help you protect yourself from potential scams.
To prevent fraud, please follow these steps:
- Contact your PCP: If someone claiming to be from our clinic calls you to discuss DME, or if you are unsure whether one of our providers recommended a specific DME item for you, call us directly at (931) 245-7000 to verify.
- Protect your information: Never provide your Medicare number or personal information to unsolicited callers.
- Report unauthorized items: If you receive a DME item or a bill for equipment that you did not request and that was not ordered by your provider, you must report this to Medicare immediately.
- Request a new ID: If your information has been compromised, you may need to contact Medicare to obtain a new identification number.
