Premier Medical Group Reminds You To Add Vaccinations To Your
Back-To-School Checklist
Be sure your kids get their needed vaccines before the back-to-school rush!
Whether your child is heading to daycare or heading to college, you can help protect them from serious diseases by vaccinations. Vaccinations help to ensure your child’s long-term health, as well as the health of their classmates, relatives and those around them. By following the CDC’s recommended immunization schedule, parents can help protect their children from disease outbreaks.
Annual check-ups are recommended for children and adolescents 3 to 21 years of age. Be sure to ask your doctor if your child is up-to-date on all of their immunizations, and if not, schedule a second visit for “catch-up” vaccines.
Make sure your child is receiving age-appropriate immunizations
Children gearing up for kindergarten require several immunizations, most of which are the final dose in a series. These include:
- DTaP (diphtheria, tetanus, and pertussis)
- MMR (measles, mumps, and rubella)
- IPV (inactivated polio vaccine)
- Varicella (chickenpox; first of 2 doses)
- Influenza
Immunizations are a crucial part of your child’s long-term health
Children in the United States are still susceptible to diseases that are vaccine-preventable; however, receiving a vaccine significantly reduces the risk for your child to develop those diseases that could potentially become life-threatening. Not only do immunizations protect your child, they protect those around them. Some children are unable to be vaccinated because of conditions such as cancer or other reasons. It is imperative that your child’s immune system is healthy, so they do not pass along a disease to someone who might have a compromised system. This is especially important for your little ones as they begin preschool and kindergarten.
Our Pediatrics team advocates for childhood vaccinations and the established U.S. CDC immunization guidelines. Our team believes that every child should be fully immunized against serious illnesses. While we respect the rights of parents and guardians to make other decisions regarding vaccinations, Premier Medical Group strictly adheres to these guidelines.
