Premier Medical Group’s Mike Carrigan, MD Appointed to Health Care Task Force
Chief Administrator of Premier Medical Group Dr. Mike Carrigan has been selected to serve on Governor Bill Lee’s newly formed Health Care Modernization Task Force. Its goal is to provide options for consideration to address some of the state’s major healthcare issues.
According to Carrigan, “It is an honor for me to be named to serve on this important Task Force. Healthcare delivery is a challenge across the country, and Tennessee is no exception. The group will look most closely at access to medical care, in all its many facets. There are barriers to access for patients across Tennessee, not just in rural areas, for people who are uninsured or underinsured.”
Carrigan brings his own unique perspective to the table. An internal medicine physician for 37 years in Clarksville, he ran a solo practice and retired from group practice in 2015. He served as medical director for the group practice for 11 years and has worn the chief administrator hat for four years. The life-long Tennessean also oversees a nine-month discipleship program to benefit women with life-controlling issues such as addiction.
“I admire the governor,” Carrigan said, “and I applaud him for stepping up to the plate to better an issue that affects all Tennesseans.”
